Holy Smoke
This club was commissioned for an Episcopal rector who also does competition level barbecue. When introduced to the idea of hickory golf, his first instinct was to use the hickory shafts for his smoker. However I found the perfect putter for him. If is from an Edinburgh clubmaker named “Hendry& Bishop” that featured their “Mitre Brand” line with a bishop’s mitre. It was literally a club with his name on it.
I refinished the club with black leather with white thread at the top to represent a clerical collar. The main whipping was the blue white and red of the Episcopal flag. Then I put decorative whipping near the club head in varying bluish grey to represent the smoke of a barbecue.
