Bonnets
Grassmarket Tartans, Edinburgh, Scotland
This is a glorious little shop on Candlemaker’s Row in Edinburgh. It is part of a community project that provides meals and activities for older and isolated residents. If you happen to visit their shop, they usually have a few pre made, but if you have a few days, they are usually willing to make them to measure.
My bonnets from them are wool tweed with a light fleece lining. They also can make them in a variety of tartan.
They are perfect fall/winter caps on the course, and won’t fly off in the wind.

Knickers / Plus Fours
Knickerdog
This online retailer is one of the best upcycling operations I’ve come across. They save odd pairs of men’s dress pants from bargain bin hell and hem them into knicker style trousers.
Often you see knickers and “golf outfits” that just have a…Spirit Halloween vibe to them. Not with Knickerdog, since their trousers start as actual dress pants, their cut and material is superior to the costumes. Also Knickerdog asks for some basic measurements when you order so the inseam and drop look right and not ridiculous.
I have three pairs of their knickers and all are great for golf. Their inventory does vary all over the place as they are finding pants to convert. So they may not have exactly what you want, but they are always getting new styles in.

Pencil/Sunday Bag
Forewind Golf, Kittery, Maine
Forewind Golf is based out of my great grandmother and grandmother’s hometown. They hand sew Sunday bags from upcycled retired nylon sailcloth. Each one is unique based on the pattern and colors of sail donated to them.
It doesn’t have as rigid of a structure of some of the heavier canvas and leather retro style bags out there, but the sailcloth more than makes up for it. It is considerably lighter than any of my other bags, and the sailcloth repels water better than cotton based canvas. Also the broad quilted carry strap manages to both be comfortable, and not slip off my shoulder, which is a rare double feat.
